Hilo Lei Day Festival needs YOU!

E Komo Mai! Sign up here to kōkua the Hilo Lei Day Festival!

Lei Day 2021 will be the fifteenth year we have held the Hilo Lei Day Festival. Last year, due to the pandemic, we were unable to hold the festival. This year, we will hold a small festival at Kalākaua Park AND on-line!

We need YOU to kōkua with the Hilo Lei Day Festival!

Video yourself making lei, dancing hula about lei, talking with your kūpuna about lei and send us the link!

Hashtags: #HiloLeiDayFestival2021.

We look forward to seeing your creativity!

Each year, we need support before, during, and after May 1 to make this festival better than ever, and to keep it going for generations!

And. . . it’s not to early to sign up for Lei Day 2022!

The Hilo Lei Day Festival is a great activity for homeschool families! Learn Hawaiian Culture and Arts, and participate in the festival on May 1!

You can also help to support the Hilo Lei Day Festival, and help to preserve and perpetuate the language of the lei, through your purchase of Hula ʻŌlelo Lei – A Lei Maker’s Glossary. Only 99 cents, because we want this valuable information to be as widely available as possible, but even tiny donations add up to big results!

If you would like to kōkua (help) with Lei Day preparations, contact us at Info(at)LeiDay(dot)org. Below Aunty Leilehua teaches how to make a fluffy lei hili to use as a rope for the stanchions to help with Lei Day distancing.
