Hilo Lei Day Festival 2021

In 2021, Friends of Liliʻ uokalani Gardens and Friends of Kalākaua Park coordinated a project to restore the stonework steps in Kalākaua Park. On Lei Day 2021, the park was blessed with Kahu Kahoʻ okele Crabbe officiating.

Filled with true Aloha… these Hilo wāhine, leimakers and cultural practitioners; are the backbone of our Hilo Lei Day Festival committee 🌺 Mahalo nunui Ola and Leilehua❣
Putting on a Lei Festival in the Time of Covid is a great use of technology!
Hawaiian Culture students joined us from around the world!
One of the families who enjoyed the festivities of the day…. They were all given eyelash leis by a 90 year old hula dancer who was giving these leis away to anyone not wearing a lei. Just one of many kind acts witnessed yesterday. Beautiful day in Hilo nei.
